DAY 3 is over!
Seicomart french fries are hot!
Seicomart Hirafu Store
Breakfast on the third day was rice balls and french fries at Seicomart near the hotel. The "Fried Potatoes" prepared in the kitchen of the store are simple potatoes lightly sprinkled with salt, but you can taste the sweetness vividly and I couldn't stop myself from exclaiming "Yum!" with surprise! According to the cashier, the first fries in the morning are the sweetest.
Relax in a cozy cafe
SPROUT
As if breakfast at a convenience store wasn't enough, I decided to have a coffee break at SPROUT, a cafe in front of the station in Kutchan, a town next to Niseko. I had the "Dark Lemon Squash," a highly recommended item on the menu. The drink is a combination of espresso and lemon squash, which gives you a refreshing lemon taste at the first sip, with a bitter espresso aftertaste. There is a comfortable sofa, so I stayed longer than I thought I would.
The oldest national road tunnel in Hokkaido
Inaho Tunnel
After our coffee break, we got down to business and headed further north on Route 5. About 20km from Kutchan, we arrived at the Inaho Tunnel at Inaho Pass. This tunnel, which connects South and Central Hokkaido, is the oldest national road tunnel in Hokkaido. The tunnel is narrow and 1.4km long, so be careful when passing through. Fortunately, when we rode through the tunnel, not a single vehicle approached from behind, so we were able to pass smoothly.
Mushroom soup" is the best-selling soup in Japan
Mushroom Kingdom
After crossing the Inaho Pass, we were looking for a place to take a break when we saw a sign that read "Mushroom Kingdom. We decided to take a short break at the "Mushroom Kingdom. We were hungry, so we had a bowl of "Mushroom Soup" for only 110 yen. The saltiness of the miso soup and the sliminess of the nameko mushrooms whetted my appetite, but I held off until lunch. We leave the "Mushroom Kingdom" despite being thirsty for a refill

Hokkaido is famous for its seafood bowls.
Kakizaki Shoten
Lunch at Kakizaki Shoten in front of Yoichi Station. I ordered the "Itoko-don," a bowl of rice topped with salmon roe. I'm a big fan of Itoko-don so I couldn't help but mumble "I'm so happy" when I saw the large amount of salmon roe, and finished the dish in no time.

Go to the observatory overlooking Otaru City
Asahi Observatory
Before entering Otaru City, stop by the Asahi Observatory, a recommended spot given to us by word of mouth. From the observatory, you can see the whole Otaru cityscape from a great location. Incidentally, the observatory is mentioned in a scene from the anime "Saikano," which is set in Hokkaido.

Soft serve ice cream adored by lovers all over the country
Otaru Milk Plant
After leaving the Asahi Observatory, it is time for the first and last sweets of the day in Otaru City. We stopped by Otaru Milk Plant, which we were informed about by word of mouth. This is a classic soft-serve ice cream store for Otaru residents. According to word-of-mouth information, many soft-serve ice cream lovers from all over the country are saying, "I definitely want to try it. According to word-of-mouth information, sofflers (soft-serve ice cream lovers?) from all over the country are eagerly waiting to try it. I ordered the normal sized standard milk flavor. It was so delicious that I seriously wondered if I should order another one.
Arrive at Otaru Station, the interim goal
Otaru Station
The Oshamambe-Otaru section of the Hakodate Main Line, which will be discontinued after 2030. We arrived at Otaru Station, the goal of this trip's theme. The retro station building, a registered tangible cultural property of Japan, was photographed from a short distance away. During the three days of running almost along the railroad line, we passed by a Hakodate Main Line train only once. Tsucchi grumbled, "I've never passed a train on the Hakodate Line.
Arrive at today's hotel
Dormy Inn PREMIUM Otaru
Dormy Inn PREMIUM Otaru, located across from Otaru Station, is today's accommodation. The hotel offers a natural hot spring, free ice cream, ramen noodles, and a manga corner. Best of all, bicycles can be stored in the lobby.
Toast with Otaru Beer
Otaru Beer Brewery, Otaru Warehouse No. 1
Beer is the best remedy for fatigue! So we went to Otaru Beer Otaru Warehouse No. 1, located along the Otaru Canal, to have a beer. Inside the building, Otaru Beer is actually brewed and can be observed for free. This time, we focused on the "drinking" rather than "seeing." I'm now recharged for the final day's ride!
