DAY3 Hotel Del Lago to The Way Inn
On the third day in Taiwan, we took on the main event: a full lap around Sun Moon Lake. Along the way, we enjoyed the lakeside views from every angle, had lunch at a stylish café, and visited a tea factory. The route into Taichung was mostly downhill, finishing with a ride through the lively city streets to our goal.

The journey starts at Narita Airport. Considering ease of access, we chose a flight to Taoyuan Airport, which offers convenient connections to Taichung via high-speed rail. After arriving at Taoyuan, we took the MRT into the city and stayed at a local hotel. The next day, we planned to transfer to Taichung with our bikes using the HSR (High Speed Rail).

On the second day in Taiwan, we traveled by bullet train from Taoyuan to Taichung. At Changhua Station, we assembled our bikes and headed toward our destination, Sun Moon Lake. Along the way, we stopped in Jiji, a charming town with old-fashioned streets, and enjoyed sightseeing and local cuisine. The latter half of the route included a steady climb, and the wind and scenery we felt along the ride deepened our sense of travel.

It’s about 70 km from Changhua Station to Sun Moon Lake. The tranquil rural scenery is soothing, and the detour through Jiji offers charming old streets and local gourmet treats. In the latter part, the steady climbs wear on your legs, but at the end awaits the breathtaking view of the lake. It’s a route you’ll remember with a deep sense of accomplishment.
